Forjadores de Esperanza Home for Boys is a substitute home approved by the Department of the Family of the Government of Puerto Rico. It opened its doors in 1993 out of the efforts of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Puerto Rico as an answer to the much-needed shelter for abused and homeless children, as well as those who were orphans. The purpose of this institution, for us, run by Angels, is to provide a home for these children between the ages of 6 and 17, which have been removed from their parents’ custody by judicial authorities.
The Home also is a place where the children are offered the following essential services: medicines, doctors, dentistry, nutritionists, psychologists, psychiatrists, audiologists, speech pathologists and social workers. We at MCA, work to offer them mechanical engineering field trips. Recreational and cultural activities, as well as handicrafts, are also offered in their strict but full of love ambiance. Right now, the home is directed by a Board of Directors made up of Christian and lay people. Daily chores are done by qualified personnel trained in the caring of children, and a group of volunteers perform in other needed areas.
The institution is sustained through donations and offerings and every year they expand services and facilities in order to accommodate more children, ages 13 and up. In order to reach these goals, the institution needs the economic aid that groups, entities and individuals can bring. We invite you to become part of our efforts. If your wish is to collaborate with the home, and want to help by being hope-forgers, please send your contribution to us or visit us personally.
